Here as some of the questions our clients often ask:

Why do I need a Will?

Briefly, you need a Will to say:

  • how your money and assets will be distributed between your nominated beneficiaries
  • who you want as guardian to take care of your children
  • who will control the money you are giving to your minor children
  • who will be appointed executor to administer your estate

What is the procedure to have a Will drawn up?

  • It is easy and simple
  • Please contact Willem who will meet with you to discuss your needs and take your instructions
  • Willem will then prepare a draft Will and email or mail it to you for your approval
  • Once you have approved your draft Will, you can either print it yourself or we can bind and mail it to you
  • You then have to sign the Will before witnesses and store it in a safe place

Are there other documents I may need to have prepared?

Yes, there may be which we will discuss with you at the meeting.  These may include:

  • Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA)
  • Enduring Power of Guardianship (EPG)
  • Testamentary trust

Do I have to bring anything to the meeting?

You do not have to bring any documents.  Please provide the full names and residential addresses of the executor, guardian and beneficiaries you want to nominate in the Will

How long does it take for a Will?

Usually 2-4 days after our meeting the Will will be prepared.  If you need it urgently, that can be arranged.

Do you do home visits?

Yes, depending on where you live, a home visit can be arranged.

When should I review my Will?

  • At least every 3 years, but always when your circumstances change
  • When you get married, because a marriage terminates a Will
  • If you get a divorce, because a divorce terminates a Will
